I am trying to trace both the ancestors and descendents of Mikel Norman Henningsen (1837 - 1882) of Leervog, Sand, Troms; and Hanna Eline Hansdatter (1850 - ?) of Torsken, Troms. Their children were Kaurine Julianne Henriette (20/7/1880) and Hagerup Nikolai (13/12/1875), both born at Hals, Tranøy. Kaurine, who called herself Julia, was my great-grandmother and emigrated to Duluth, Minnesota. Hagerup lived most of his life in Clewiston, Florida, but is mostly a mystery because the family lost touch with him.

On the ancestors of Mikel, I have been unable to trace further back than his grandfather, Ole Henningsen Norman (1759 - 1803), who we believe was born in Sunmøre. He had been linked to the Normans of Harstad, Troms, but we have been unable to find proof of that. The names Norman and Henningsen were used throughout the generations in both families, so there is some confusion.

I have also been searching for Hanna Eline's death or emigration record. After Mikel died, she had a child, Emil Norman, in 1883 with Nikolai Jakobsen, but they never married. I found Emil's death record in the 1903 Tranøy Parish records, but nothing more on Hanna. Nikolai was born in 1851 in Bodo, according to the birth record.
