Hello, My name is Tami Jenson. I live in Salt Lake City, Utah,
U.S.A. With my husband David Jenson and our five sons; Spencer age 13, Broox age 12, Caleb age 10, Jared age 8,
and Karsten age 5. And our two daughters Tasha aga 5 and Nikita age 4. We are active members in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter
Day Saints (Mormons). Because genealogy is very important in our
religion, I began researching shortly after we were married in
1989. I soon discovered that genealogy is my favorite hobby. The
ancestors that I have been researching lived in the Parishes of
Lenvik and Malangen in Troms Norway. For more information, choose

Why do Mormons do Genealogy?
When I started using the internet in 1998, the first thing that I looked for was a page about genealogy for the region of Troms. I wanted to find a page where I could meet others researching the same area and help them with their research if I could. I soon found that such a page did not exist, but I thought that is should! Since the building of this site, many wonderful things have happened to me. It has been very exciting to see the page become a useful and helpful resource to many people in many parts of the world. Here are just a few of the special things that have happened to me since since I first began:
In July of 1998, I contacted a reporter for the Bladet Tromsø newspaper who printed an article on 29 July 1998 about my desire to find living relatives in the area, the next day there was a follow up story about a women who had seen the article who was also a decendant of the same ancestors. And about 1 week later I recieved an e-mail from a 1st cousin!!
In my research of my husbands ancestry, I had come to a brick wall on his fourth great grandfather named Henrik Andersen. Despite much looking, I was unable to solve the mystery of where he had come from. One day I recieved an e-mail from a man named Tore Amundsen who had visited the site and noticed some simularities with his own ancestry, we were able to prove the connection, and he gave me many generations on the line of Henrik Andersen Stellander who was a kvensk emmigrant from Finland! So, overnight, my shortest line had become my longest line!! From April 15th to May 2nd, Tore visted me, I enjoyed playing "Utah tour guild" for him (and dragging him all over the state!!) I made this page to thank Tore for his nice visit and to tempt the rest of you to plan a trip to Utah :-) http://www.troms-slekt.com/project/torevisit.htm
One of the most amazing discoveries was made by Nils Johan Fosli. Since my site is for research in Troms, which is where my husbands grandfather was from, I did not list any information about my own ancestors from Nordland. Nils Johan was curious about them, so I gave him the information that I had. He found several more generations for me from the bygdeboks of the area, which was very exciting, but the most amazing thing that he found was that we are sixth cousins!! One of my ancestors in Hemnes had a brother who moved to Malangen, Troms, and he is one of Nils ancestors!
From the 10th to 19th of November 2000, I had a wonderful vist in Norway, hopefully only the first of many visits to come!! This is a special page with the details of my visit, where I went and who I met! http://www.troms-slekt.com/visit.htm
From July 3rd to 11th, I had a special visit from Arne and Hege Berg. I gave them the "Tami Tour" of Utah and we had a great time! Click here to see a few pictures from the visit, there should be more to come in the future. And I want to give a big thanks to Arne and Hege for letting me be part of their vacation.
From May 12th to the 17th Dan from Northern California spent a week with me and my family.
Dan has ancestors from Tranøy, and we became very good friends when he came to my web site and let me help him with his research!
We spent most of his visit at Arches national park hiking and river rafting and camping. We spent our last day walking around park city
and little cottonwoodcanyon and trying to see a movie (but missing most of it) The entire week was great fun! Click here to see pictures!
| I had a fantastic visit in Norway from Sept. 20 until Oct. 2. The first three days were spent in Oslo and Eidsvoll and the rest of the days in Troms! Check out this page to see the people and the places that made this trip so spectactular and memorable!! |

Learning HTML code and making web sites has become another favorite hobby for me, and I have had the opportunity to make sites for some friends that use my pages. I am happy to do this for anyone who uses my site who would like a site of their own. Here is a list of other sites that I have made:
